Shaznay Lewis: ‘I asked my husband to describe me in three words. They were not printable’

Born in London, Shaznay Lewis, 48, founded All Saints with Melanie Blatt in 1993; Nicole and Natalie Appleton joined three years later. The band’s two multiplatinum albums – All Saints and Saints & Sinners – were released in 1997 and 2000, and their five UK No 1 singles include Never Ever and Pure Shores. Their awards include two Brits, a Mobo and an Ivor Novello. In 2004, Lewis made her first solo album, Open; she has just released another, Pages. She is married with two children and lives in Hertfordshire.

When were you happiest?
When my children were small and used to play together, be creative, and were just in that innocent bubble.

Born in London, Eleanor Tomlinson, 32, made her film debut in The Illusionist in 2006. At 21, she starred as Demelza, opposite Aidan Turner, in a new TV adaptation of Poldark. The series ran for five seasons between 2015 and 2019. Her recent work includes Channel 4’s The Couple Next Door, the Netflix series of One Day and The Outlaws, which returns to BBC One for a third series on 30 May. She is married to the rugby player Will Owen and lives in London.

What is your greatest fear?
I’m terrified of time. The people I love are getting older and time seems to be going faster and faster. It’s scary. I’d like it to slow down, please.

Lil Nas X: ‘Who do I most admire and why? I have to say myself’

Born Montero Lamar Hill in Georgia, Lil Nas X, 25, rose to fame in 2019 with his single Old Town Road, which won many awards, including two Grammys. In 2021, he released his debut album Montero, which featured the hits Montero (Call Me By Your Name), Industry Baby and Thats What I Want. The following year, he completed his first worldwide tour. The documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero – directed by Carlos López Estrada and Zac Manuel and released on digital platforms on 20 May – sees him navigating issues of identity, family and acceptance as he embarks on the tour. He lives in Los Angeles.

When were you happiest?
Maybe on tour when I was in Argentina. Yeah, or Brazil: oh my God, those people out there.
