Civil lawsuit against dating company alleges misuse of users’ private information, including HIV status

A gay man who claims his HIV positive status was misused by the dating app Grindr has accused the tech platform of treating his personal medical data like β€œa piece of meat”.

The man is one of nearly 1,300 people who have joined a civil lawsuit against the US-owned company in the UK high court that alleges the misuse of private information of Grindr users, including details about their HIV status and when they took their last test.

People with commonly autocorrected names call for tech firms to fix problem

β€˜I am not a typo’ campaign is calling for technology companies to make autocorrect less β€˜western- and white-focused’

People whose names get mangled by autocorrect have urged technology companies to fix the problem faster, with one person whose name gets switched to β€œSatan” saying: β€œI am tired of it.”

People with Irish, Indian and Welsh names are among those calling for improvements to the systems that operate on phones and computers as part of the β€œI am not a typo” campaign.

Labour’s plan for new towns looks likely to focus on the Midlands as much as England’s overcrowded south-east, with planners already considering areas near Nottingham, Stafford and Northampton, the Guardian understands.

Close to the M1 and M6 motorways, some of the locations have the advantage of being in areas of Labour local political control, giving Keir Starmer’s government a better chance of delivering on its promise to have the first homes built by the end of a first Labour term.
