Made for kids 7-13, the Freckle phone is designed with limited AI access and no social media to help kids explore the world around them safely. As I was browsing new products incorporating AI, I was struck by this new Freckle phone (product website). It is designed to be minimally invasive while providing kids with options such as texting and calling. Parents can post nature scavenger hunt missions for their kids and it comes with kid-friendly maps and the option for prepaid credit to purchase items. The product is supposed to bridge the gap between independent play outside with an AI technology product.
