Talks on a post-Brexit deal to govern the border between Gibraltar and Spain have broken up without an agreement, although both sides insisted a deal was β€œgetting closer”.

David Cameron, the UK foreign secretary, met the European Commission vice president, Maroő Šefčovič, in Brussels to discuss the British overseas territory on the Iberian peninsula, which has been in limbo since Britain left the EU.

EU Investigates Facebook and Instagram Over Addictive Effects on Children

The American tech giant’s platforms, Facebook and Instagram, may β€œexploit the weaknesses and inexperience of minors,” the European Commission said.

The European Commission has opened an investigation into the owner of Facebook and Instagram over concerns that the platforms are creating addictive behaviour among children and damaging mental health.

The EU executive said Meta may have breached the Digital Services Act (DSA), a landmark law passed by the bloc last summer that makes digital companies large and small liable for disinformation, shopping scams, child abuse and other online harms.
