How good are your AI-detection skills? Test yourself with these games

19 October 2026 at 06:30

I remember when AI images were easy to spot thanks to dead giveaways like freakishly mutated hands, warped faces, and Escher-like architecture. That was way back in 2023. Since then, things have progressed fast. AI image generators now are so good that it’s genuinely hard to tell what’s real and what isn’t.

But that doesn’t stop us humans from thinking we still have an eye for what’s real and what’s fake. So if you still think you’ve got it, then go ahead and give it a try with Slop Sense. It’s a free website with a handful of games that put your AI-detecting skills to the test.

My favorite game is called Reality Check where you’re shown an image and have to guess whether it’s a real photo or an AI-generated one. You get 10 seconds to make each guess and 60 seconds to rack up as many points as possible.

You’ll earn points for correct guesses, lose points for mistakes, and get bonuses for stringing together correct answers. When the timer runs out, you can go back through the images and see which ones tripped you up. It even provides the prompt used to generate the AI images. My score was shockingly abysmal at 12 out of 22 correct.

There’s also Ghostwriter, which takes the same idea but asks you to guess which text is written by AI and which is written by humans. I actually found this to be easier, but that may be because my job involves actually writing text all day.

These are a fun time waster and if nothing else, they’re an eye opening experience for how convincing AI-generated images and text are becoming—think about that the next time you’re mindlessly scrolling through social media confidently thinking you know what’s AI slop and what’s not.

Oh, and the irony of using AI to build games about spotting AI isn’t lost on me.

Lifetime access to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more is now just $49.97

19 October 2026 at 04:00

TL;DR: Get Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more for life with a Microsoft Office Lifetime License, only $49.97 through November 1.

Five years of Microsoft 365 Personal at $99.99 per year comes to about $500, and the subscription still ends the day you stop paying. Microsoft Office 2024 Pro Plus for Windows is a one-time purchase, and it’s on sale right now. A lifetime license is just $49.97 (reg. $249.99), about half the price of a single year of Microsoft 365.

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Access all come with your license. Activation ties to your PC instead of a Microsoft account, so you can open any of those apps without signing in first. Security updates continue through Microsoft’s supported lifecycle, and dark mode works across the suite.

This license installs directly onto your PC, where it’ll stay indefinitely with no recurring costs.

Pay for Office once and keep it on your PC for good.

Until November 1 at 11:59 p.m. PT, you can get a Microsoft Office Pro Lifetime License on sale for just $49.97.

No coupon code needed.
